Stupid Questions

"In this class, we are learning together. I am your lecturer, but I won't patronize you. And most importantly, be brave to ask. There are no stupid questions in this class and you are not stupid if you ask questions."

This class is hardcore. The lecturer is amazing, she brings not only formal lessons but also guest lecturers from relevant fields to fill the gaps between her knowledge and the reality. I have to say that I'm enriched and entertained at the same time. She said be brave to ask, so I ask, like, anything in my mind. I crossed my way to this major from where I've been, so I think it's natural for me to ask even about the basics. And seems like the lecturer is fine and happy about it. We had a good discussion in class as if I am the only student here.

But sometimes, like any other educational occasion, it be like:

"Is there any question?"

"Alright I think there is no more question, so let's call it a day."

I feel some kind of guilt when I have no question in mind, because I think the lecturer must hope that somebody asked her. I also feel like, because I am the only one who asks frequently, I am that clueless compared to others. You? Having questions about that? Are you still in the shore when we are all diving on the ocean floor? This type of inferiority (or what should I call it, inferiority complex?), I can't deny that I be having that sometimes.

Still I am curious, how come people not asking questions? Are they bored and have no interest or whatsoever? Are they being clueless? Are they confused so much to even be curious? Or are they just straight geniuses?

Whatever. My dad said to focus on my personal value, not how I am doing compared to others. Being curious and love to learn is what I am, so why bother the other geniuses? I am a genius too, genius at asking questions and open up discussions.

The finals are over, so is this class. What a great semester I had with this class. I even promised to keep in touch with my amazing lecturer. I hope she had a great project that I can contribute to in the future.

As I walk down the stairs, one approaches me.

"Hey, um, thank you for all your stupid questions throughout the semester."

"Um, your welcome. What do you mean?"

"The lecturer said there is no stupid questions yet I'm feeling stupid to bring up questions like you do. Turns out your questions put together all the materials. Like, a bundle of great knowledge! I'm doing well on the exam because of your stupid questions."

"Really? Great! We should ask more stupid questions then. Anyway, eat a burger together?"
